Development Officer

Full Time 40 Hours

Founded in 1968, Cape Abilities has a distinguished history of providing services and support to individuals with disabilities. Cape Abilities, Inc. seeks a Development Officer, a newly-created, full-time position that will work closely with the Director of Development and President & Chief Executive Officer to successfully implement Cape Abilities’ fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship program. The Development Officer will be expected to cultivate and manage relationships with existing donors at various levels of giving, as well as identifying new prospects. The candidate will possess proven fundraising experience, a thorough knowledge of gift options and an ability to clearly communicate the mission of Cape Abilities. S/he will be expected to persuade prospects and persevere to the close of the gift and beyond.

Bachelor’s Degree. Five years of fundraising experience.Results-oriented with demonstrated personal successful donor cultivation and solicitation experience with a range of donors, including individuals, corporations and foundations.Outstanding interpersonal, communication and writing skills.Highly adaptive, change-positive personality capable of working effectively within a teams and independently.Knowledge and experience in fundraising best practices and regulations.Strong project management skills; ability to set priorities, and work independently.Attention to details and accuracy.Demonstrated success in managing complex projects, while consistently meeting goals.Professional and courteous presence, on phone and in person, ability to work with a wide variety of people, ease in initiating contacts with other groups. Knowledgeable about the role of technology and electronic communication in fundraising. Availability for evening and weekend work for events and donor contacts.Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts.Successful completion of all Agency mandated trainings required upon hire..

Provides leadership, vision, development, and overall management of all Human Resource activities and staff and reinforces the Agency’s culture, values, and mission through the delivery of HR programs and services. Develop innovative approaches and ideas for all aspects of HR. Supports the Agency’s mission, vision, values and operational objectives through HR strategies and programs designed to position and maintain the Agency as an industry leader known for recruiting and retaining quality staff.

Manage all aspects of Vocational Services and Community Based Day Supports to maximize the independence and employability of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Master’s degree in any subject and five (5) years of professional experience in counseling, job placement, Vocational evaluation or rehabilitation OR Bachelor’s degree in related field with equivalent work experience. Minimum five (5) years’ prior experience working with adults with disabilities including conducting assessments, performing community outreach and managing job placements. Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts. Strong performance management skills. Ability to teach and model occupational tasks

Direct Support Professional (Individual Supports) – Hyannis

Part Time $15 per hour

The Individual Supports Professional provides instruction, support, and serves as a positive role model to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury or other unique challenges. ISPs are expected to facilitate the development of the individual program participant’s independent living, social and recreational skills as well as ensuring his/her full involvement in the local community, and, as applicable, facilitate his/her access to appropriate health care. The ISP provides direct, active, and constructive interactions with individuals in collaboration with individual caregivers, AFC clinical staff, community members, and families.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree or additional education in the field (s) of psychology, social work, nursing, or special education preferred.1 year of direct care, CNA, or human services experience preferred. Ability and willingness to provide hands-on personal care. Must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form with coworkers and supported individuals and read fluently. Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts required. Successful completion of all state and Agency mandated trainings upon hire required.

Individual Supports Program Manager – Hyannis

The Program Manager for Individual Supports provides instruction, supports and positive role modeling to individuals with varying developmental disabilities and/or acquired brain injury living in their own homes and in family homes. The Program Manager encourages the development of life, social, and recreational skills, as well as, community access and healthcare. Additionally, the Program Manager provides supervision, training and support to case managers and provides direct, active and constructive interactions with individuals in cooperation with staff, team members, clinical consultants, community members, families and managers.

Bachelor’s degree preferred in psychology, social work, special education, or related field.Prior human services or relevant life experience preferred.Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts.Successful completion of all state and Agency mandated trainings.Successful completion of Medication Administration Training certification.Ability to physically intervene in instances of extreme behavior that might jeopardize safety of individuals supported and staff

The Farm Store Associate works with the Retail Manager, in all aspects of farm store customer service and maintenance.
