School Age Program Coordinator

Job Description
Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating and overseeing assigned School Age Child Care program area, staff, and participants.  Assists with developing and maintaining effective working relationships with parents, school administration, and the community.
 
Essential Functions:
  1. Assists School Age Site Directors and Site Coordinators with development, administrative, supervision, and execution of School Age Child Care program. 
  2. In conjunction with Associate Executive director, hires, trains, schedules, develops and directs school age Site Directors and Site Coordinators.  Assists with facilitating communication and leadership with School Age Child Care staff.  Assists with review and evaluation of staff performance and developing strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.  
  3. Is knowledgeable of, and assures compliance with, state and local regulations, including Healthy Eating related to program areas.  Monitors staff certifications are current, and EEC, state, a local regulatory requirements and YMCA curriculum program standards and safety procedures are followed.  In conjunction with Associate Executive Director, assists with children’s records.
  4. Responsible for managing program food, supplies, and facility needs at each location.  Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures physical environment supports healthy living. 
  5. In conjunction with Associate Executive Director, supervises, develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  6. In conjunction with Associate Executive Director, responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  7. Effectively communicate with parents and/or participants and build positive relationships with parents. Assist director with organizing special events for parents.
  8. Prepares or supervises compilation of program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  9. Assists Associate Executive Director with daily drop-in phone in the absence of the Finance Associate.
  10. Assists with promotion and marketing of program.
  11. Attend monthly staff meetings. 
  12. Maintains required certifications and participates in staff professional development activities: complete a minimum of (1) five hours of professional development activities per year if working fewer than ten hours per week, or (2) twelve hours of professional development activities per year if working at least ten but fewer than twenty hours per week, or (3) twenty hours of professional development activities if working twenty hours or more per week.  At least one-third of the required professional development must address diverse learners.
  13. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.  Completes reports as necessary.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have one year of experience working with school age children.
  2. Minimum age of 20.
  3. One year of supervisory experience.
  4. Certifications: CPR and Basic First Aid.
  5. Excellent human relation, organizational and communication skills.
 
Physical Demands:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise children’s activities.
