The Town of Dennis, Massachusetts, population 14,000, is seeking qualified applicants with exceptional leadership qualities for the position of Department of Public Works Director.  The Director is responsible for management of the Department of Public Works which includes highway, grounds, cemetery, sanitation (solid waste and recycling), fleet maintenance, municipal buildings, and administration. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Under administrative direction of the Town Administrator, the employee works from municipal policies and objectives; short and long-range goals and objectives, and assumes direct accountability for department results.   This position requires strong management skills, excellent communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including employees, citizens, boards, committees, and professional organizations.
The minimum qualifications for the position include bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with specialization in business or public administration or a related field; ten (10) years of responsible experience with a minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory position; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Final candidate must successfully pass the pre-employment process which includes a thorough background investigation of employment, education history and criminal history.  
Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.
