As the General Manager, you lead and manage all aspects of WBLC. From initial estimating and planning, on to completion, you are the supervisor. You have a full understanding of plans and specifications and develop accurate quantities for scopes of work. You work with subcontractors to solicit pricing, support estimates with accurate quantity takeoff, subcontractor & supplier quotes, and detailed resource information, and you use Bid2Win software for project estimating. You manage the day to day operational aspects of the projects, such as execution of the work plan, enforcement of project standards, identifying resources needed, assigning individual responsibilities, scheduling, and mitigating risk exposure.  You oversee the field construction of projects to complete the work on schedule, within budget, and to the quality of workmanship promised. Your general management role puts you in the position to oversee and maintain strict control of the project budget, as well as meeting with senior management to review the financial status’s of various projects. You take ownership in ensuring that the execution of both private and public construction projects are completed in the safest manner, at the lowest cost, and in compliance with contract documents & client’s expectations.
With your critically important & visible executive position, you protect and promote WBLC’s interests in all matters. Additionally, you are responsible for ensuring project documents are current and submitted for processing. You document all contract influenced information, change orders, tracking of measure, and payment items in a timely fashion, as well as assist in invoice approvals/quantity reconciliations. You have a strong rapport with all Lawrence-Lynch Corp support departments such as dispatch, the garage, asphalt operations, the “On-Island” boat team, etc. in order to maintain open communication and optimal inter-company support. Your history of being an experienced and poised manager has brought you to this position where you show up to work every day with the certainty that you will be surrounded by a group of experienced and established industry professionals, leaving you with a sense of confidence and pride in your team.   • Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of heavy construction experience, preferably in the civil construction industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to delegate work. Three (3) years of previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Experience supervising craft workers in civil construction or a related field is a plus.
  • Prior work experience that includes in-depth knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including paving, concrete, water, sewer, grading, drainage, and/or other utilities is required.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract is required,
  • Ability to successfully pass a CORI background check or obtain security clearance is required for certain projects.
  • Have or be able to obtain OSHA 10 certification, first aid/CPR certification.
A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or a related field PLUS five (5) to ten (10) years of construction management AND prior experience with MassDOT projects are strongly preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Prior work experience in asphalt paving and asphalt plant production experience is strongly preferred. Experience with estimating software such as Bid2Win is also desirable. Competent person, excavation, trenching, first aid/CPR, and fall protection certifications are also preferred but not necessarily required
Qualified candidates will possess in-depth knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including paving, concrete, water, sewer, grading, drainage, and other utilities AND knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of highways and roads, site work, or other related fields.
