Senior Mortgage Closer

Job Description


Is authorized to make exceptions to loan closing procedures up to an appropriate level to provide superior customer service within appropriate risk management tolerance levels. Coordinates loan closing activities and prepares a variety of loan closing documents. Assists the Closing Manager to ensure conformance with established Bank policies and procedures including the use of approved attorneys insuring all legal, compliance, insurance and guaranty functions are applied.



  1. Uses legal knowledge to assist Origination staff with inquiries.
  2. Makes recommendations directly to RCL Management regarding more complex loans.
  3. Assists Closing Manager with pipeline management to ensure TRID requirements are met, conditions have been cleared and by expediting applications ready to close.
  4. Assists Closing Manager in prioritizing and coordinating closings with impending deliveries to investors or expiring rate locks.
  5. Assists Closing Manager and Closers to resolve Post Closing issues.
  6. As conditions dictate, performs all responsibilities as described the Mortgage Closer job description.


  1. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and investor requirements including RESPA and TRID.
  2. Ensures documentation accuracy and quality for legal compliance and investor loan delivery standards.

 Department Operations:

  1. Offers support to Mortgage Closer when requested.
  2. Assists Closing Manager with communication between Mortgage Origination and the Bank’s attorneys.
  3. Assist the Closing Manager in training newly hired employees.


  1. Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience as legal assistant/paralegal or mortgage closer).
  2. Minimum of five years experience as a mortgage closer or legal assistant/paralegal performing mortgage closing work. Prior experience as a mortgage processor and/or underwriter desirable.
  3. Knowledge of consumer laws and regulations related to residential mortgage origination such as TRID, RESPA and HMDA.
  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities at a time. Proven record of being accurate and completing work within pre-determined time constraints.
  5. Advanced computer knowledge and technical skills.
  6. At least two (2) years prior supervisory experience preferred.
