Assistant to Mortgage Loan Officer (Yarmouth & Provincetown)

SUMMARY:

This position will leverage the mortgage loan officer’s time through customer contact, facilitating the timely electronic submission of mortgage loan application data into bank’s mortgage origination software, collecting documentation from applicants, and the assumption of various administrative tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service

  1. Screen incoming calls for the MLO, returning customer calls, and organizing MLO’s appointment calendar.
  2. Communicate general information with prospective applicants under MLO’s guidance.
  3. Assist management of MLO’s mortgage application pipeline through communication with assigned Underwriting Assistant or Underwriters and reference to Easy Lender reports with the objective of reducing turnaround times.
  4. Communicate with assigned Underwriting Assistant or Underwriter as to ongoing application status and relay status and any concerns to MLO and, when applicable and under MLO’s guidance, to applicant and realtor.

Facilitate timely submissions of loan application data

  1. Once mortgage application has been received or taken by MLO, input all application data into the appropriate loan origination system.
  2. Assist MLO in the collection and follow-up of required applicant documentation (i.e. pay stubs, signed tax returns, asset statements, purchase and sales agreements, etc.) and coordinate this follow-up with assigned Underwriting Assistant or Underwriter.
  3. Provide data for preliminary disclosures (i.e. Good Faith Estimate and Truth In Lending) when appropriate.
  4. Order appraisal, flood zone determination, and legal services as required, based on appraiser and attorney assignment from Operations Center.

 Compliance

  1. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and investor regulations and requirements.
  2. Review loan documentation input by Loan Officer for data integrity.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  2. At least two years working in mortgage origination as administrative assistant or on processing staff.
  3. Working knowledge of mortgage origination process and ability to communicate same to applicants.
  4. Working familiarity with mortgage origination systems, including Fiserv’s Easy Lender and Morgagebot.
  5. Must have cyber security awareness to protect the digital environment, the Bank, and customers.
  6. Must possess the ability to work in a team environment under deadline pressure.
  7. Must be organized and a self-starter.
  8. Proficient user of Windows Suite (primarily Word and Excel).
