Part-Time Position with U.S. Census

U.S. Census Bureau
Job Description
To ensure that the 2020 U S Census is completed on time and accurately, several hundred people are needed to fill positions on Cape Cod. The jobs are temporary; many are part-time with flexible hours. Hourly wages range from $22 to $24. Mileage reimbursement for use of a personal vehicle is available for approved use.
The jobs include census takers to interview household residents, census field supervisors, recruiting assistants, clerks and office operations supervisors. Veterans and bilingual individuals are encouraged to apply. Each applicant must be 18 or older; have a valid Social Security number and email address; and be a U.S. citizen except in certain circumstances.
The U. S. Constitution mandates that a census of the population be conducted every ten years, and since 1790 one has been conducted every ten years. The census statistics determine the number of seats each state holds in the House of Representatives. Until recently Massachusetts had 10 Congressional Districts. As a result of the last national census in 2010 the state lost one Congressional district. The statistics help determine the amount of federal funding allocated to each state. The current estimated allocation to each state per person is $2,400.00. The statistics are also used by companies and other groups to identify population trends.
