Accounts Payable Associate

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Accounts Payable Associate supports the general operations of the Finance Department by performing a variety of tasks related to accounts payable

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Get approvals on the invoices
  • Code and enter into the system approved vendor invoices and check requests
  • Pay vendors and service providers
  • Mail checks to vendors
  • Reconcile vendor statements and payment records; ensure payment credits are applied correctly; research inaccurate or questionable invoices.  
  • Correspond with vendors regarding billing and payments; negotiate with vendors and service providers to secure discounts
  • Update and maintain all vendor and accounts payable report files
  • Code Amex statements for entry
  • Streamline the payment process
  • Maintain petty cash
  • Assist with audit
  • Assist with reconciliations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma.  Associates’ degree preferred
  • 3-5 years prior accounts payable experience
  • Practical knowledge of MS Office packages; and must be well acquainted with the use of computerized accounting systems; strong Excel skills preferred
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to function well in a fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to function excellently in a team environment and be a great team player

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
