Description
$15.00 General Admission (not including ticketing service fees) Please join us for Xylophonia’s first appearance at Prez Hall! This unusual and wonderful band plays ragtime music while mixing in other interesting pieces —the theme from The Muppet Show, a lovely version of “Danny Boy,” a Guatemalan folk song with Latin percussion, etc. – for variety, for humor, and to help tell the story of the music and the instruments. The performers all talk during the program, introducing each piece with short anecdotes and facts about the history of ragtime and the instruments. In addition to the upbeat fun of the music, audiences are usually quite fascinated with the visual aspects of the instruments and how they are played — something one doesn’t often see on the Cape. XYLOPHONIA is a group of 5 professional percussionists who perform these famous xylophone solos accompanied by four players on two marimbas. (The group takes its name from the title of one of Joseph Green’s famous compositions.) Musicians: Amy Lynn Barber (founder), Victoria Chang, Paul Gross, Ian Hale, Mark Prall
