The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster is proud to present The Monarch Butterfly ~ Conservation of a Beloved Insect with Katie-Lyn Bunney of the University of Minnesota Monarch Lab, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1pm. Whether you love monarchs, or merely have a passing interest, this program is for you! Discover more about their unique life cycle and migration, the issues threatening their population, and come away with knowledge of what you can do to help with the conservation of this charismatic and beloved butterfly. The UMN Monarch Lab and Monarchs in the Classroom began in 1991. This unique partnership between scientists and educators includes a wide variety of materials and professional development opportunities for teachers throughout the US for grades K-12. The University of Minnesota Monarch Lab is a partner of the Monarch Joint Venture, a national partnership working to conserve the monarch migration in the U.S. Katie-Lyn Bunney has a degree in Environmental Sciences Policy and Management from the University of Minnesota. She has worked as an informal educator at the Bell Museum of Natural History, nature centers, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Dakota County Parks, and Como Park Zoo and Conservatory where she was also the Camp Director. She served for four years on the board for the Minnesota Association for Environmental Education, a volunteer-run organization for promoting and advocating for environmental education in Minnesota.
