The Falmouth Chorale Chamber Singers, under the direction of John Yankee, present Alzheimer’s Stories by composer Robert Cohen and librettist Herschel Garfein. The work, commissioned and premiered in 2009 by the Susquehanna Valley Chorale, is based on personal experiences of its members and friends who had confronted the disease with those they love. This free concert, on Sunday, June 4, 4:00 PM, at First Congregational Church, 68 Main Street, Falmouth, opens with selections that share singing as a common theme. In addition to the Chamber Singers, it features soprano soloist Joan Kirchner, baritone Philip Lima and pianist Stephanie Weaver. The composer will give a pre-concert talk. Alzheimer’s Stories, a work in three movements, illuminates the connection between music, love and memory in the life and care of those affected. Director John Yankee quotes the final words as encapsulating the composition: “They sense what they cannot show. Love and music are the last things to go. Sing anything.” More information: 774-392-2383 or www.FalmouthChorale.org. This performance is supported by The Falmouth Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation.
